An Evaluation of Marketing Practices in Banks in Ghana

ABSTRACT

This study ascertains the extent to which the marketing concept has been adopted and implemented by banks in Ghana. It addresses a gap in an area that is currently under researched and provides insight into the banking services industry in a developing country. All sixteen licensed banks in Ghana were included in this study. The data was collected through in-depth interviews and self completed questionnaires. The results suggest that marketing departments in the banks are organised mainly within headquarters and headed by marketing and advertising/public relations managers. The marketing activities in the banks are associated with the stage where marketing orientation is perceived as advertising and public relations. There is a partial lack of marketing culture in the banks. The total and formal acceptance and understanding of the marketing concept is at an embryonic stage in the evolutionary process.     

Turning Good Citizens into Even Better Ones: The Impact of Program Characteristics and Motivations on Service Learning Outcomes

ABSTRACT

It has been suggested that motivations of an individual and the quality of a service-learning program can affect service-learning outcomes such as being a concerned citizen of the community. Previous studies have examined these issues using measures of actual behavior after the program and program characteristics. This article uses a longitudinal research design with measures of intended behavior and perceptions of the program to examine the relative effects of program characteristics and motivations to volunteer on participants' future intentions to be active citizens. The results indicate that motivations and program perceptions work in concert to influence the service-learning outcomes. Intrinsic motivation was found to be the strongest predictor of the outcomes.     

大陆高职院校毕业生赴台湾高校专升本探析

通过对2013年大陆高职院校毕业生赴台专升本实施情况的研究，分析大陆高职院校毕业生赴台专升本不理想的原因，如赴台专升本项目对报考生源资格的限制条件较为严格、赴台专升本项目的公布时间偏晚、台湾院校招生科系介绍及收费标准公布偏迟、在台湾高校学习的经济成本远大于大陆高校、台湾高校学历相比海外高校并不占优势、赴台专升本的学习成效存在不确定性等，提出要进一步放宽对赴台专升本项目的限制、完善赴台专升本项目信息内容并及时全面地向社会公开、通过各种形式减轻学生赴台专升本的经济压力、在教师和学生层面提升对台湾高校实力的认可度、利用台资企业对台湾高校学历的认可度为赴台专升本学生打开就业的大门等对策。

The article discusses the current situations and problems of higher tourism education in China, analyzes the causes of the problems and then puts forward suggestions to solve them.     

Escalation of the Study-Abroad Experience

Abstract

The authors discuss an innovative study-abroad program implemented by a large university in the Midwestern United States. In partnership with a French business school, a program was established incorporating project-based learning, a multi-national student population, and a three-month residency in France by U.S.-based students and faculty. Specific examples are discussed, and recommendations made, with respect to curricular issues, partner selection, technological issues, institutional support, contingency planning, and daily living. The results of an open-ended survey of student participants are also discussed.     

微观视角下对亚元的探讨

以往大多学者对亚元的研究和探讨主要是从蒙代尔的最优货币区理论入手,通过对欧元产生机理和其带来的影响进行分析,然后对亚元存在的基础和可行性进行研究探讨,在研究方法上是站在一个宏观角度上进行例证的,这样很容易忽视亚元作为货币的微观性作用。本文从微观上对亚元进行探讨,假设亚洲货币合作区和亚元的存在,通过分析亚元的货币性职能即流通、支付、价值尺度和贮藏手段,使得我们能从微观层次上理解亚元的存在的可行性和必要性,从而为亚元的产生提供微观上的理论支持。     

生态补偿政策目标下的退耕还林的博弈分析——以拉市海为例

从生态补偿的角度,在对拉市海退耕还林项目进行社会调查的基础上,利用博弈工具分析了政府、上下游社区在退耕还林中的收益变化,在参与退耕还林项目后农户的产业选择及政府的政策选择,揭示了退耕还林在保护流域环境方面的局限性,提出在生态补偿思路下进行流域环境保护的建议。

图框、标题栏是工程图样的一个重要组成部分。通过对图框、标题栏的分析，提出用C语言设计绘制A0－A4幅面图框、标题栏的基本思路和通用程序。     

WTO视域下的美国《食品安全现代化法》

2011年1月14日美国国会通过的《食品安全现代化法》显著提升了美国食品安全监管标准,该法第三章对进口食品安全监管体制所做新规,如国外供应商认证程序、自愿合格进口商计划、授权取得食品进口证书等将对美国食品贸易体制发生重大影响,其影响将溢出到整个国际食品贸易市场。这部法律总体上符合WTO法律制度,但若干具体规则有违反WTO最惠国待遇原则之嫌。目前尚未有涉及FSMA的WTO诉讼案件,因此其相符性还有待WTO争端解决机制的实际验证。
